1) Set up a free Audio Track (Stereo).
2) Open PROJECT – SOUNDBITES window. Be sure the “speaker” icon is on to hear Soundbites.
3) Locate Loops, etc. from your computers Hard Drive or other disks. For example:
HD – Library – Application Support – GarageBand – Apple Loops. CONVERT .CAF FILES TO .AIF FILES with MAX software.
4) Drag drum loop (i.e. Funky Pop Drum 01.aif, etc.) into SOUNDBITES list.
5) Tag the loop with it’s length in beats. Select Soundbite in Soundbite window. AUDIO – SET SOUNDBITE TEMPO. Enter the # of beats of the Soundbite in the “Length” field (bottom right of dialog box).
6) Put selected loop into the DP7 audio track. Drag it from SOUNDBITES window by the “waves” icon (far left; one wave is mono, two waves is stereo). Make sure you are dragging mono loops to mono audio tracks and stereo loops to stereo audio tracks!
7) Make the tempo of the imported drum loop agree with that of the sequence. This can only be done if you’ve already “tagged” the length (in beats) of your loop (see above). AUDIO – ADJUST SOUNDBITES TO SEQUENCE TEMPO.
8) If interested, apply audio plug-ins (reverb, normalize, etc.) to taste.
TRY IT WITH ONE OF THESE LOOP: 80s Pop Beat 07.aiff, RnB Beat 01.aiff, Effected Beat 02.aiff
